COTW (W/C: 09/02/15): Blue Storm Marine General, Zaharias (Legion)

[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (1)] When this unit's drive check reveals a card with the same card name as a unit on your (VC), if this unit is Legion, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to two of your rear-guards, [Stand] them, and those units get [Power]+5000 until end of turn.

[ACT](VC):[Counter Blast (1)] This unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of turn.

Oh, so this week's card of the week is a single rare Legion. Must be pretty lack luster huh? Well you'd be wrong.  Blue Storm Marine General, Zaharias, from my times facing Blue Storm as of recent is probably more terrifying than Tetra Burst. It's less predictable due to being a persona check while in legion but it makes for a better finisher than Burst does when it does go off. What really makes this terrifying is that this Vanguard while in Legion is highly flexible and depending on the situation his skill once triggered, just pay a single counterblast, and from there the skill may be resolved differently varying on your current situation. Do you just re-stand and empower your front, or place everything on one column, a decision in which your field and your opponent's remaining hand will each contribute towards which targets you choose.

I guess since I keep placing focus on the legion skill and that this is also a persona check, may as well look at what the mate has to offer.

[AUTO](RC):When this unit's attack hits a vanguard, if it is the third battle of that turn or more, draw a card.

On-hit pressure from the third attack onward if this is the attacker, this is an ideal target to get the re-stand, but that is also an issue. The dilemma is that this is desirable on the field but also needed in the deck to increase check chance of activating the legion skill. Since this skill only works on rearguard that means in order to use it while in legion, there's going to be at least 2 copies of this card on the field. That means given that situation, at best you've got 5 persona chances left in the deck. Well then... good luck I guess.

Blue Storm Marine General, Zaharias certainly falls into the category of "awesome but impractical" and as a mecha fan, I appreciate that.
